Humans First overview

Artificial intelligence is set to fundamentally change our lives… how we work, how we raise our children, and how our country is run. Right now, the people making those decisions are a handful of Big Tech billionaires and the investors funding them. Everyone else is being asked to go along for the ride.

Humans First is a conservative social movement that is dedicated to ensuring that the future of AI is in the hands of everyday people.

We are at a critical crossroads in the fight to protect American workers, American families, American consumers, and the communities we call home. The same Big Tech billionaires who have spent the last decade concentrating wealth and harming kids now want unfettered control over an even more powerful technology that will reshape every corner of American life.

We believe the American people, not unaccountable billionaires, should make those decisions. Our core demands for politicians are simple:

  • Defend the essential freedoms of Americans – life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness – from harmful impacts of AI.
  • Ensure the economy puts Americans First, not Big AI first.
  • Protect our national security and humanity: ban the development of superintelligent AI – AI that is vastly smarter than all humans combined – at home and impose this abroad.

We are well-funded, we are moving fast, and our team has deep experience in conservative organizing from the Tea Party through today.

Role overview

The VP/Director of Operations owns the operations foundation that enables our movement. You’ll design our operational systems from the ground up, run them nationwide, and build the organizational backbone needed to generate the power to win the future of AI.

Operations leadership
Sit on the senior leadership team. Help shape our strategy, initiatives, and organizational design to maximize the impact of our operational/financial resources and then set operating practices to efficiently execute our plans in the real world.
People operations
Enable us to identify, attract, empower, and retain the most talented team members by leading recruiting, general HR, performance management, and culture building.
Finance, legal, compliance
Support the entire lifecycle of our 501(c)(3) and (c)(4) entities, from financial forecasting and cash flow management to contract negotiation and advocacy compliance, including managing outside counsel and accounting/compliance vendors.
Infrastructure and general operations
Manage the build out of the tech infrastructure (AI tooling, CRM advocacy software, data security, and more) and operational muscle (trusted vendors, SOPs) needed to educate millions of members, organize nationwide actions, and ultimately win federal AI policies.

Your background

We have a critical mission and need an excellent operator to build our core functions. This means you’ll likely meet most of the criteria below, but even if you don’t, we’re excited for you to apply if you think you’d be a great fit:

  • 10+ years of experience across operations, finance, legal / compliance, and HR / people operations, leading at least two of these functions.
  • You’ve built something. You’ve played a critical role in getting a new organization off the ground and/or building multiple operational systems from scratch.
  • 501(c)(3) / (c)(4) fluency. You understand the intricacies of (c)(3) and (c)(4) nonprofit organizations and how to maintain compliance with a minimum of overhead.
  • Ready to get your hands dirty and lead. You’re ready to dig in and do it yourself or manage a vendor for now and eventually build a small but mighty team around you.
  • Problem identifier and solver. You’re known for being the person who sees around corners and who is the go-to person for solving a tough problem.
  • Excellent project management skills, with efficient time and workload management skills and orientation to detail.

We are reviewing applicants on a rolling basis and prioritizing early applicants. Send your resume and a brief note regarding your fit and interest to:
